Tarago Car Vessel

The Port Kembla Port Corporation welcomed the first car-carrying vessel on Friday 15 June 2007.

The 67,000 tonne, 240 metre long Tarago visited the Port for a trial run in preparation for the cars which will start arriving in October.

Minister for the Illawarra David Campbell and Wollongong MP Noreen Hay greeted the vessel alongside PKPC CEO Dom Figliomeni.

When completed the Port Kembla terminal will handle more than 240,000 motor vehicles per year as well as containers and general cargo.
