First shipload of excavated material from Barangaroo South to arrive in Port Kembla

The first shipload of excavated material from the Barangaroo South project will arrive in Port Kembla on Thursday 16th August aboard the vessel CSL Pacific.

The CSL Pacific has been commissioned by Lend Lease, the developer of Barangaroo South, to transport the material from Sydney to Port Kembla for use in the reclamation at Port Kembla's Outer Harbour Development. Transporting the material by sea means the regional and city roads will be spared thousands of truck movements.

Only suitable material that meets strict environmental and human health criteria set by the Environment Protection Authority will be transported to Port Kembla.

The major sustainability benefits include reuse of material which might otherwise be destined for landfill, as well as the reduction of truck movements through the Sydney CBD and regional areas.
