The MV Iron Monarch steamed out of Port Kembla harbour for the last time on Tuesday the 17th April 2012. For almost 40 years the vessel carried steel slab for owner BlueScope Steel between Port Kembla and Western Port in Victoria.

It was the ports most frequent visitor, visiting Port Kembla over 3000 times.

The ship left the port destined for Singapore where formalities will be completed prior to its sale in the coming days.

The vessel was originally built in 1973 in BHPs Whyalla ship yards.
