The 2011/2012 year saw some significant projects underway and completion of some new facilities.
In August 2011, work commenced on the Outer Harbour Stage 1A Reclamation. Work is progressing according to schedule with a significant milestone being achieved during March 2012, with the 1 millionth tonne of material being placed and Cement Australia commencing work on their site.
A new permanent home for the tug fleet was completed in June which allows for the safe mooring of tugs in all kinds of weather.
Rail track upgrades and renewal in the Inner and Outer Harbours recognise the importance that rail plays in the movement of freight to and from the port.
Moving forward into the new financial year, plans for expansion of facilities at the coal terminal, the commencement of construction of the Cement Australia grinding mill (the largest in Australia) and the Bio Diesel project, will ensure that the momentum of port growth will continue in the coming year.
