Port Kembla Port Corporation has recently renewed a long-term sponsorship arrangement with the Port Kembla Surf Life Saving Club.

The new sponsorship agreement is valued at $21,000 over three years.

"On behalf of Port Kembla Port Corporation I am pleased to announce our continued support of this important organisation," Port Corporation CEO Dom Figliomeni said. "This sponsorship recognises the importance of the Surf Club to the local community".

The port corporation has been a major sponsor of Port Kembla Surf Life Saving Club since 2002. During that time, the money has funded the purchase of a new surf boat, and also provided a 4WD vehicle.

Sponsorship money has been also used to fund the refurbishment of a training room within the clubhouse. The room will be used to deliver essential training programs to surf club members so they can maintain and upgrade their surf rescue and resuscitation skills.

With the refurbishment of the training rooms now complete, the new facilities will be available for use by the clubs members for the 2008/2009 season.

Mr Figliomeni said as the port experiences significant growth over the next few years, the Port Corporation recognises the importance of contributing to the wider community.

"The surf club was an obvious choice for us to support due to the vital community service they provide."
