Berth 105, 106 and Trucks

Road transport operators who regularly access the port of Port Kembla, Port Botany, the port of Newcastle, and the Cooks River Rail Yard and have a diesel truck that was manufactured before 1 January 2003 may qualify for a free steel catalyst and muffler as part of the NSW Road and Traffic Authorities (RTA) NSW Ports Diesel Retrofit Program.

The RTA is inviting road transport operators that regularly access these facilities to take part in this program that will involve the fitting of partial particle traps on the exhausts of up to 20 diesel trucks across these facilities in 2010/11. It is estimated that these devices can reduce a diesel trucks emissions by up to 50 percent.

There will be no financial cost to operators that take part in the program and the fitting of the devices can be scheduled to take place during non-operating periods.

This program is fully funded by the RTA and supported by Port Kembla Port Corporation. If you would like further information about the program, please contact Warren Telfer on 02 8588 5527 or Warren_TELFER@rta.nsw.gov.au.
