Maiden Voyage plaque presentation

Early in December 2011, the MV Parsifal entered the port of Port Kembla on its Maiden Voyage. PKPC Harbour Master Kell Dillon boarded the vessel to make a presentation to the Capatin and welcome the crew to the port.

The vessel was launched in Norway in September 2011 and is the second of Wallenius Wilhelmsen's Mark V Ro Ro vessels. It's sister vessel, the MV Tonsberg is the largest car carrier in the world and it also visited the port for the first time in 2011.

MV Parsifal is designed for transportation and handling of High & Heavy rolling cargo, Non Containerised Cargo, Breakbulk, Special Project Cargo and cars.

At a length of 265 metres, the vessel is one of the largest to visit the port and has a cargo volume of 138, 000 cubic metres over six fixed and three hoistable car decks.

Having arrived from Melbourne, the vessel was in port for approximately 24 hours before heading on to Brisbane, its next port of call.
